This homeowner in Wayne, New Jersey had a slab that had seen better days — cracked, covered in layers of old self-leveling concrete, and just plain ugly. What they wanted was a floor that could keep up with everything a home garage gets put through: a home gym, working on cars, running mowers, and any future projects, all without worrying about abuse from tools, tires, and heavy equipment.
We started by tearing into the surface itself — grinding down and removing the failing layers of self-leveling concrete to get back to a clean, solid base. Every crack was opened up and patched with our epoxy patch, leaving a seamless, level floor with no weak points left behind. We also created a bullnose at the front of the garage where the door meets the slab, separating the outside from the inside while adding extra strength right where the floor takes the most abuse from cars and equipment rolling in and out. With the slab properly prepped, we laid down a moisture vapor barrier to seal out any water or vapor rising up from below, protecting the investment for the long haul.
For the finish, they chose our Wombat flake system with a full broadcast for maximum strength and coverage, giving the floor a rugged, textured look built to take a beating. We topped it off with a polyaspartic coating for maximum UV stability and abrasion resistance — so the color stays true and the floor stands up to daily wear, whether that's a barbell, a bumper jack, or a lawn mower blade.
Two days start to finish, and by Monday morning this homeowner was back in the garage — gym equipment set up, tools out, ready to work.
